According to Lorna Fraser-Robertson, the homeowner, around 17:00 hours she received a call from her daughter that their home was on fire.
“I was in Georgetown to drop off something for my son who resides in the city but then while I was in Demico I got a call that my house on fire. I travelled home and when I go up here I see me house in flames,” Fraser- Robertson said.
Robertson said that she believed that something went wrong in her home while she was away. “I didn’t leave on my stove, I had prepaid meter and I would regularly check all my appliances. I can’t understand what happened,” the woman said.
At the time of the fire, Fraser-Robertson said that her three grandchildren were at home but luckily, were not harmed.
“They were at home but they were outside because I locked the doors,” the woman said. Fraser-Robertson further explained that she and her daughters along with her grandchildren had been residing at the home for the past 10 years.
However, one of the occupants who was at home said that before the fire started there was blackout.
“We been in the yard and they had blackout and when the light come on back we see smoke coming from granny bedroom so we start throw water and try fuh out the fire,” the occupant said.
The family was however able to save a few of their appliances but was unable at the time, to estimate their total losses.
