A Black Bush Polder man was struck dead on the Joppa Public Road shortly after 19:00 hrs on Tuesday evening. The lifeless body of Arvin Dilall, 35, of Lot 120 Yakusari North, Black Bush Polder, Corentyne was discovered by police. The relatives suspect that it was a hit-and-run.
Dilal was returning home.
Deodat Lilboy, a cousin of the deceased, received a telephone call around 21:00 hrs that night informing him of the incident. He and his wife rushed to the scene. “When we received the call, we tried calling his cell phone but it went to voice mail.”
“When I go with the car, I recognized him. The marks show the vehicle hit him and pulled him…the marks were on the road—he was bruised on his entire back and his right leg was broken,” the man told Kaieteur News last evening.
The police took photographs after which the body was taken to the Skeldon Hospital Mortuary where it is awaiting a post- mortem examination.
Lilboy stated that his cousin lived alone a few houses away from him and he last heard from the man around 16:00 hrs Monday. “He went Skeldon to collect money and he bought beef and hassar and brought them to put in my fridge.”
“He normally does go to the Skeldon Market to walk and come back.” Lilboy lamented the condition in which the body was found. “It’s very bad…they dragged him a good way—the marks were all on the road.”
Dilall leaves to mourn his father, Pedro and mother, Kamini, both of whom reside in Canada; as well as his sister, Kamini. Police investigations are continuing.
