Roxanne Williams, of 145 Middle Road La Penitence and Vanetta Harding of 7 ‘A’ Laing Avenue, West Ruimveldt , as a result of a spat between them, faced separate assault charges when they appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
It was alleged that on October 8, at 145 Middle Road La Penitence, Williams assaulted Vanetta Harding.
The court also heard the allegation that on the said date, at the same address, Harding assaulted Roxanne Williams causing actual bodily harm.
They both pleaded not guilty.
According to the report given by Prosecutor Vishnu Hunt in open court, both parties are known to each other since Williams is married to Harding’s brother.
The particulars of the charge stated that on October 8, whilst passing Harding’s yard, Williams, who was escorting her two children to school, was accused of creating and spreading rumours about Harding.
The prosecutor told the court that an argument then ensued and Harding dealt Williams two slaps. As a result, Williams then spat in Harding’s face.
The matter was thereafter reported and the duo was arrested and charged.
Magistrate Judy Latchman thereafter placed Williams and Harding on $50,000 and $70,000 bail respectively. They are expected to return to court on October 21.
