A couple, their daughter and a Brazilian national were injured at around 18:00 hrs yesterday after a truck slammed into a car and a motorcycle at Port Kaituma, North West District.
Three of the victims were air-dashed to the city with suspected spinal injuries and admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) shortly after midnight today.
Those admitted to the GPHC are Andrew Williams, 34, of Wauna; his wife, Juliet Seecharran, 42, and a Brazilian woman, whose name was given as Rayana Melonogueira.
Mr. Williams’s 12-year-old step-daughter, Juliet Seecharran, was also injured but was not air-lifted to the city, apparently not having sustained an injury that required advanced facilities and/or treatment.
Mr. Williams said that he was travelling in a car with his wife and daughter when a truck rammed into the car, causing it to topple at least three times. He said that the truck also hit a motorcycle on which the Brazilian national and her husband were travelling.
The injured man said that he managed to kick out one of the doors and crawl out of the car.
They were subsequently air-lifted to the Ogle International Airport before being transported rushed to the GPHC by ambulance.
