The Eccles\Ramsburg NDC yesterday handed over $1.5M, which was taken from their 2013 budget, to the Providence Community Centre and Ground Management Committee (PCCGMC) after both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the NDC office. The funds will be used to upgrade the playfield and the pavilion and works are expected to commence next week.
Chairman of the Eccles\Ramsburg NDC, Saeed A. Khan presents a copy of the MOU to president of the EBDCA Rohan Sarjoo in the presence of members of the NDC and ground management committee.
The pavilion was constructed in 2005 by SIMAP Agency at a cost of $21,735,182 and the fence was done by the NDC. The management committee will be responsible for the effective functioning of the ground and building, to enhance sports within the NDC and to carry out training programmes to enhance community development.
In an invited comment, Chairman of the East Bank Demerara Cricket Association (EBDCA) Rohan Sarjoo, said he is pleased with the NDC input stating that it will enhance the development of cricket in the area. He indicated that the EBDCA will be able to organize more tournaments and hope other venues will be upgraded in the near future.
