Fitness Express flexes corporate muscle
The sport of bodybuilding is continuing its come back journey in fine style with yet another competition planned for athletes and the fans on November 9, 2013 at the Kaylee’s Resort, Coverden, East Bank Demerara.
With the aim of taking the sport to nontraditional areas, Videsh Sookram, Manager of Total Fitness Gym, now located at Lot 5 Gorohoo Street, Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara is behind the promotion of Muscle Explosion which is opened to all athletes in Guyana and sanctioned by the Guyana Amateur Body Building & Fitness

Speaking with Kaieteur Sport, Sookram said that their main aim is to take the sport to other parts of Guyana through high level competition while at the same time, promoting the healthy lifestyle message of exercising and following a proper diet.
Over 26 athletes have so far registered according to Sookram, who noted that the official date for the closing of registration is Friday October 18, 2013. Persons desirous of participating can fill out the forms and drop them off at Fitness Express, 47 John and Sheriff Streets, Campbellville or at Total Fitness Gym, now located at Lot 5 Gorohoo Street, Soesdyke, EBD.
Male athletes will compete in five categories (Under 143, Under-155, Under-165, Under 176 and Over 176) with the respective winners clashing in the Overall Pose Down, while the ladies will compete in a Ms. Bikini contest.
Sookram stated that the prizes and other incentives are very attractive and is anticipating a very competitive evening of rivalry.
The ever supportive Fitness Express is one of the main sponsors on board and Owner/Manager Jamie Mc Donald has already handed over his contribution to Sookram at the entity’s Sheriff Street store, recently.
Mc Donald expressed delight once again at being a part of the continued drive to promote and spread the sport in Guyana. He noted his satisfaction at the positive work being done by the federation and a number of promoters stating that Fitness Express will continue to lend a helping hand.
Accepting the contribution, Sookram thanked Mc Donald while promising that come November, 9, fans will be thoroughly entertained at a venue that all will enjoy.
Admission will be $1,500 and Sookram promised that fans would not have to worry about their vehicles as there will be adequate secured parking for all. Showtime is 19:00hrs.
Other sponsors on board are Digital Technology, Al Haaq BBQ & Grill, Gas and Go Gas Station, Kaylee’s Gas Station, Sterling Products, V&A General Store, American Closet and Total Fitness Gym.
