Small takes Girls U-14 200 meters; Frank grabs Girls U-10 200 and 400 titles

Cassie Small powered her way to victory in the Girls U-14 200 meters final when East Georgetown held their Inter-Schools champion of champions’ athletics competition yesterday at the Police Sports Club ground Eve Leary.
Small overcame school mate Tiana Barker who finished second and third place Tia Henry of Tutorial Secondary.
Marcus Pelma of North Georgetown Secondary outsprinted Levi Robinson of Mae’s (second) and Joshua Robertson (third) of Queenstown Community High in the Boys U-14 200 meters final which was keenly contested. De Andre Frank of Stella Maris grabbed the Girls U-10 200 and 400 meters events. Shaniah Bentick of Stella
Maris placed second in the 200 meters, while Shendana Nurse of Mae’s finished third; Rashana Griffith of F E Pollard took second spot and Shania Bentick of Stella Maris claimed third in the 400 meters.
Jeremiah Younge of St. Gabriel took the top podium spot in the Boys U-12 200 meters final, while William Goodasaul of Sophia claimed second spot and Tarik Moses of F E Pollard ended in third position. Shekira Archer of St. Winifred triumphed in the Girls U-12 200 meters final ahead of Chrisella Wilson of Sophia and Shekida Emmanuel of St. Gabriel in that order.
The Boys 400 meters U-8 event was taken by Patrick Bond of Stella Maris while Shaquille Scott of St. Gabriel finished second and Omarie Holder of Stella Maris ended in third spot. Akiziah Thompson of Sophia grabbed first place in the Girls U-8 400 meters followed by Tiana Moore of Redeemer Primary and Ronella George of Rama Krishna respectively.
The Boys U-10 200 meters title went to Jahiam Griffith of St. Gabriel while Garvin Rogers of Stella Maris took second and Dominic Leacock of J F Burnham third.
Tandika Vyhus of Rama Krishna took the honours in the 150 meters Girls U-8 contest and Leondre Holder of Stella Maris carted off the Boys U-8 150 meters.
F E Pollard and Stella Maris bagged the Boys and Girls 4×100 meters U-12 relay events respectively.
Sophia currently leads the points table with 291 followed by Stella Maris 199, St. Gabriel 162, Redeemer Primary 156 and F E Pollard 96. The championships continue today.
Meanwhile, St. Winifred took the cycling championships which were held on Friday
last at the National Park with 283 Points. North Georgetown Secondary took the runner up spot with 282 while St. Joseph placed third with 222.
