Guyanese boxers will get into action on Thursday as they seek glory for themselves and country at the World Championships being contested in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Imran Khan and Dennis Thomas are the two Guyanese boxers battling in opening competition at these games on Thursday.
Khan will battle Nauid Fernandes of the Philippines in the Bantamweight division, while Thomas tackles Artem Chebotarev of Russia in a middleweight scrap.
According to Guyana Boxing Association president Steve Ninvalle, the boxers had been in training in Kazakhstan for the past two weeks and have been building in confidence and looking for good results.
They are accompanied by Trainer Terrence Poole, who made the trip to guide them compliments of the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport.
