Dear Editor,
I first read in GuyanaOnLine the statement that I had been approached to be a witness in the long delayed Rodney Inquiry. I wondered then who had spoken in my name. I protested to the Editor and I now know why he ignored my protest.
I did not know until now that there was a September 30 Kaieteur News editorial on my letter to the press. The claim that I had been approached came from that editorial, not from my letter. My letter said that I was willing to be a witness in the Rodney Enquiry. Either I expressed myself badly, or there was a misreading of my letter.
No one has approached me about being a witness in that process. I am of my own will anxious to contend with those who seek to blame the victim. My letter said that I learned from an email that the Enquiry would take place soon. The email came from an ordinary citizen of Guyana in the USA trying to make sense of the situation at home. I wanted to assure the public that Walter Rodney’s old colleagues have not vanished.
