Imran Khan and Sunil Dyal stroked half centuries as Unity defeated Helena 1 and 2 by 6 runs when the East Coast Cricket Board (ECCB) limited overs cricket competition continued last Sunday.
Host Unity took first strike and rattled up 249 before they were bowled out in 35 overs. Imran Khan led with 80 while Sunil Dyal supported well with 50 and Davanand Mangal 41. Martin Dutchin claimed 3-44 and Mukesh Singh 3-54. Randy Budhu then stroked a fine 134, but it was enough to see his team home as they were bowled out for 244 in 30 overs in reply. Nandram Persaud contributed 48; Khan returned to grab 5-33.
At Lusignan, Mon Repos went down to Lusignan B by 7 wickets.
Mon Repos batted first and were skittled for 52 in 15.2 overs. Chandrika Jeenarine was the main destroyer with 4-9 from 5 overs while Steve Alick took 2-16. Lusignan (B) replied with 53-3 in 12 overs with Davanand Samroo scoring 19.
At Better Hope, the home team overcame Lions XI by 88 runs. Better Hope posted 177- 9 after the game was reduced to 25 overs, batting first. Ravi Singh and Avish Dindyal scored 30 each. Lions XI were bowled out for 89 in 19.4 overs in reply. Dion Ferrier made 27; Suresh (only name given) snared 2-9, Nasim Khan 2-22 and Ravi Singh 2-28.
