Dear Editor,
The Guyana United Sadr Islamic Anjuman, The Anna Catherina Islamic Complex and the Meten Meer Zorg (East) Masjid join other Muslim organizations in extending congratulations to Mr. Leroy Brumell on his confirmation to the post of Commissioner of Police for Guyana.
The organizations are confident that the long-over-due confirmation will serve to strengthen his resolve in effectively leading the police Force at this critical period where the criminal elements in our country are bent on disrupting the country through robberies, murders, banditry, executions etc. Commissioner Brumell’s appointment has received the support of both the government and the opposition and is seen as a positive move by the entire populace of our country.
We commend him for his positive actions in the recent crime spree on West Coast Demerara, by meeting with the people of the area. We will like to see this outreach extended to other parts of Guyana, especially to the Berbice region where there is a similar upsurge in crime.
We urge him to also urgently address and intensify efforts to stamp out corruption in the Police Force as this will regain the confidence of the population in the police officers.
We call on all Guyanese to give full support to our police and especially our newly appointed Commissioner in the fight against crime.
Reaz Hussein
