The Optometry Programme at the University of Guyana is set to benefit from a quantity of books from the Nova Southeastern University of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA.
The endowment include textbooks about eye examination, contact lenses, low vision, clinical practices in optometry, anatomy, physiology, lasers, primary eye care, eye diseases and clinical ophthalmology.
The donation was arranged by Dr. Michele Ming, President of the Caribbean Association of Optometrists (CARIOA), and the Guyana Association of Optometrists (GAO) and Professor. Janet Leasher – Lecturer and Director of Community Outreach at Nova Southeastern University.
Mings Products and Services shipped the books from Florida to Georgetown, at no cost to the University.
Vice Chancellor, Professor Jacob Opadeyi, in receiving the books, expressed his deep gratitude to Professor Leasher and her colleagues for what he described as a “valuable contribution to the development of our programme and our students at the University of Guyana.”
