Statistician Charwayne Walker continues his look down memory lane on the performances during West
Indies ‘B’ or junior Team tours in the 1980’s. With the current tour by a Windies junior (A) Team currently underway in India, Walker reflects on the past tours and it must be noted that several players involved in these tours have gone on to represent the senior WI team, many with distinction.
Zimbabwe must be credited for hosting four West Indies (B) Teams tours. The Africans, who were vying for test status, hosted the West Indies (B) teams in (1981), (1983), (1986) and 1989.
Although the West Indies Cricket Board never reciprocated in a home series against Zimbabwe from 1982 – 1990 the Africans must be applauded for their role in giving the West Indies Test Reserves exposure to first class action outside of the Caribbean.
This is a tribute to the trailblazers part three. West Indies (B) team tour of Zimbabwe 1986.
