As ranks of the Joint Services continue their search to find a man who is currently wanted for murder, a Campbellville house suspected to be a hideout was yesterday staked out. However, it yielded nothing.
Heavily armed ranks of the joint services on Thursday raided a section of Campbellville Housing Scheme for Keifa Small, called “Frog Eye”, one of the main suspects in Monday’s shootout at Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara, in which alleged gunman Kirk Bacchus was slain.
Ranks on that occasion cordoned off the area and searched several homes, including Small’s residence. According to a neighbour, around 10:30 am yesterday, the officers arrived at a home located in Section ‘N’ Campbellville. “They arrived at the house with guns in the hand and called out for ‘Frog Eye’ a couple of times but no one came or answer,” the resident said.
The resident said that one of the officers then discharged two rounds before they broke the lock off the gate and entered the yard.
“They spend a li’l time in the place before they come outside. Residents could not say, however, if anyone was home at the time of the visit but said that officers came out of the yard empty-handed and left.
According to the residents of Campbellville, they now feel unsafe in their own homes as officers continue their search through the community. “They deh patrolling the streets day and night looking for this man, going through people house, watching you like criminals. What Frog Eye do is bad but if I was a wanted man why would I stay in me area and know they looking for me?” one resident said.
The community of Campbellville according to some of the residents who came out to speak to this publication, has become a place of unrest as they continuously patrolled every day. “They coming and search homes, terrifying people and locking off streets sometimes. Soon as they hear something they come and run in here, if you do all the searching and still can’t find he look somewhere else nuh,” a residents complained.
Police said that Small is wanted for the murder of Zulfikar Namdar which occurred at Meten-Meer-Zorg last Tuesday.
