After not being seen for almost a week by neighbours, the partly decomposed body of an elderly woman was yesterday discovered in her home at Middle Walk, Buxton.
The woman was identified as 66-year-old Avril Elize Cromwell of Middle Walk, Buxton.
According to a neighbour, about 12:00 pm yesterday other residents became suspicious after the elderly woman was not seen for approximately five days.
“She does always be seen around she yard and through the area but then since last week we didn’t seeing this woman and the place de lock up so we thought she must be gone and stay by a relative somewhere.”
Another neighbour said that when she got in contact with a family member and enquired if the woman was in the care of them; it was related that the woman has not answered any of their calls since last week Saturday.
Residents explained when they tried calling the woman’s house there was no answer and as such, they decided to enter the house. “When we go into the house we get hit with a stench and we just see her lying down on the bed bleeding through her nose,” the neighbour said.
When Kaietuer News arrived at the Cromwell’s home yesterday, a man who claimed to be a nephew of the dead woman said that he was not aware of what happened to his aunt; but declined to give any information about the woman.
He however, explained that Cromwell suffered from hypertension.
