Lochanie Yaspaul, 52, formerly of Hibernia, on the Essequibo Coast, died from injuries she sustained after she was hit from behind by a speeding car. She was a cyclist at the time.
Police said that Yaspaul died some time after 1pm, Wednesday .
Reports from persons in the Village were that Yaspual was heading out of the back dam where she earlier tended to her cows. The driver was said to be a young drunken driver, who was said to be speeding.
The woman was hurled some distance on impact. She sustained severe injuries to her legs, head and arms.
Yaspaul’s death came one week after 19-year-old Mellon De Viverous, of Supenaam, was struck down on the Spring Gardens public road and died.
Fitzroy Lloyd, the driver, was released on station bail. Police are currently engaging the head of the Director of Public Persecution in that matter.
