Ranks from the Guyana Police Force have intensified their efforts in trying to locate 16 year old Kareshma Rampersaud, who was allegedly abducted from her Better Hope, ECD home seven days ago. Investigators believe that a female security guard who once stayed with Rampersaud’s parents abducted the teenager from her home last week Thursday.
Kaieteur News was told that the teen was last seen alive on Thursday around 06:00 hrs. Vijay Rampersaud, the teen’s father told Kaieteur News yesterday that his daughter would normally wake early in the morning and pray at their home-made altar. He explained that his daughter got cleaned up and went outside and began picking flowers from plants in the yard to go and pray.
He said that her mother who was inside was watching her through the window, but turned away for a few minutes. “Her mother was inside the house when she heard a car door close so she went and peep to see if someone come and she saw a dark colour car pull off,” he stated. When the teen’s mother ran outside she saw that the plate the teen would use to put the flowers on was lying on the road and the flowers were scattered about it. The woman shouted for her husband who came outside. The man said he quickly grabbed a jersey and his motorcycle keys. However by the time the teen’s father reached the main road the vehicle was nowhere in sight
The teen’s mother told Kaieteur News that the woman who hails from Leguan Islands was staying with them for a month, until they accused her of stealing from them.
According to the father, the woman had stolen items from their home and was arrested. He explained to Kaieteur News that the woman made contact with a male acquaintance who brought the “stolen” items at the station. The woman was subsequently released on $10,000 station bail. After being released from custody the man said that woman called threatening to harm his family. “She said ‘because you make me had to pay money to come out of the station I will make you hold your head and bawl’,” Rampersaud told Kaieteur News.
The alleged abductor later contacted the family via her sister who lives at Leguan and the girl’s boyfriend. The sister had related to the family that the woman had asked for the police report to be withdrawn and then she would release the girl.
However things took a turn for the worse after the alleged abductor sent text messages to the teen’s relatives telling them that they should prepare for a funeral. “She text saying that we should stop looking for the girl and that we should buy a coffin for her instead” the teen’s father told Kaieteur News.
The alleged abductor has also made attempts to get money from the family, the father told Kaieteur News. According to him, the woman has called asking for money so that she could leave the country and start her life over. However the man said that he is not paying any money to the woman unless he speaks to his daughter.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact the teen’s father on telephone numbers: 660-5865; 685-0609 or the nearest police station.
