Outstanding all round performances by Vijay Surajpaul and Raj Parbattie guided Golden Fleece to a 130 runs victory over Cullen when the Progressive Youth Organization (PYO) Twenty\20 cricket competition continued on Sunday in South Essequibo.
Surajpaul hit five fours and four sixes in a top score of 76 and received valuable support from Raj Parbattie who made 62 (5×4,2×6) as host Golden Fleece rattled up 206-8 off their allotted 20 overs, batting first. C. Persaud took 2-48.
Surajpaul then returned to grab 4-12 and Parbattie claimed 2-13 as Cullen were routed for 76 in 15 overs in reply. Persaud was the only batsman that offered resistance with 27.
At Pomona, Rising Star overcame El Dorado by 9 wickets. Eldorado took first strike and were skittled for 74 in 18. 1overs. Ryan Mc Kay scored 24; Insaf Latchman grabbed 4-16 and Deoraj Dindyal 3-21. Rising Star replied with 78-1 in 11.1 overs. Royan Federicks led with an unbeaten 46 (4×4, 3×6) while Kayan Deonesh supported with 18 not out.
The competition continues on Sunday with Jaguars playing Aurora in a quarterfinal match at Pomona at 09:30 hrs, the winner will take on Rising Star from 14:00hrs in the one of the semi finals at the said venue. Invaders Masters will battle Zorg in another quarterfinal game at Golden Fleece from 09:30 hrs; the winner will play the host in the next semi final.
