Blairmont Centre Cricket Club (BCCC) on Thursday12th September 2013 held its 2nd award and presentation ceremony for outstanding members who would have performed for the 2012 /2013 year at the Blairmont Community Centre Pavilion.
Deveshwari Prashad captured the Cricketer-of-the-Year award and received more than $75,000 in prizes which included a full year of cable television, compliments of E-Networks.
A large turnout was on hand including club members, sponsors, cricket officials, parents and friends of the BCCC.
Among the speakers was BCCC President Shabeer Baksh – who stated that the club has been moving from strength to strength and has been showing immense progress since its resuscitation in 2010. He stated that 2012/2013 has been a successful year, both on and off field for the club. That club is rated among the best on the West Berbice and among the top clubs in Berbice. He called on the players to maintain a high sense of discipline and dedication and they will go far.
Regional Chairman, Mr. Bindraban Bisnauth, in his address, congratulated the BCCC for doing a good job when it comes to sports development and community activities on the West Berbice. He advised those gathered that they should take good care of the facilities, since they are privileged to have far better facilities that what many legends used in the early stages of development. He pledged the Region’s support in future activities.
Mr. Hilbert Foster, Secretary/CEO of Rose Hall Youth and Sports club, touched on a number of topics including HIV, drugs, religion. He congratulated the club for the outstanding performance and reminded them of his own club’s humble beginning.
Mr. D. Somwaru, Chairman of the Berbice Cricket Board Selection committee and a principal of a private educational institution, spoke on discipline, education and commitment.

Among those honoured were four retired teachers and four retired cricketers who were presented with plaques and gifts for their outstanding work in making the community a better place. The teachers were Bibi Z. Ishak, K. RAmbarran, R. Muckunlall and Thofa Alexander and the cricketers were Hazrat Saqid, Zalim Khan, Moses Shamlall and Adrian Amsterdam.

Under-17-Batsman-of-the-Year: Mohan Deodat
Bowler and Cricketer-of-the-Year: Permanand Ramdhan
Under-19 -Batsman/wicket keeper-of-the-Year: Nick Ramsaroop
Bowler -of-the-Year: Kevon Jawahir, all-rounder of the year- Derick Narine and batsman of the year – Aviskar Sewkarran
Under-21-Bowler-of-the-Year: Waqar Hassan, All-rounder and Cricketer-of-the-Year: Kevon Jawahir and batsman of the year -Deveshwari Prashad
Second Division-Player-of-the-Year: Omesh Mangal
First Division-Bowler-of-the-Year: Waqar Hassan, Batsman-of-the-Year: Deveshwari Prashad
Most Promising Player: Seon Glascow, Sachin Veersammy, Saheed Khan.
Most Discipline Players: Derick Narine.
Most Improved Players: (a) Aviskar Sewkarran (b) Mohan Deodat Emerging player of the year: Kevon Jawahir
Junior player of the year: Kevon Jawahir Cricketer-of-the-Year- Deveshwari Prashad.
At the end of the ceremony Berbice U19 and U21 cricketer Kevon Jawahir, spoke on behalf of the awardees and expressed profound thanks to all that recognizing them for what they have achieved over the year.
