Statistician Charwayne Walker continues his look back at West Indies second string teams involved in overseas tours. In this second part of the series, he continues from last week, looking at the performances of the team and key players, to the second tour by the Windies.
West Indies toured Zimbabwe in 1983 and it must be noted as was the case last week, several members of the Windies junior ensemble went on to representing the senior squad with distinction. Guyanese Timur Mohamed Captained the side which included Courtney Walsh, Philip Simmons, Andrew Lyght, Clyde Butts and Deryck Kallicharran.
West Indies (B) performance against Zimbabwe 1983 started with a 50 overs match at Harare Sports Club October 9th: Zimbabwe won by 3 wickets. West Indies (B) 239 for 9 off 50 overs; Deryck Kallicharran 60, Skipper Timur Mohamed 48, Roddy Estwick 30; Bowling for Zimbabwe I.P Butchart took 4 for 58, Kevin Curran 3 for 49.
Zimbabwe in reply – 241 for 7 in 49. 2 overs; Andy Pycroft not out 68, G.A. Paterson 66, Duncan Fletcher 41. Bowling for West Indies (B): George Ferris 2 for 28 from 9.2 overs, Clyde Butts 2 for 52 from 10 overs.

Unlike the inaugural (B) team tour in 1981 which had amongst its ranks players with test and ODI experience, the 1983 team had no player with the above mentioned experience.
