The AGE GROUP Events continued Wednesday at the Caribbean International Junior Championships (CAREBACO) which is being held in San Juan, Puerto Rico September 8-15, 2013 and Guyana suffered mixed fortunes.
The Under-19 & Open Events also commenced where over 15 countries are participating.
Matches played for the Guyanese Players resulted in:
Under-13 Mixed Doubles Semi-Finals:
Priyanna Ramdhani (Guyana) & Leon Cassie (Trinidad) defeated Michael Constantine (Trinidad) & Shezelle Mctyson (Jamaica): 21-16, 21-17 to reach the finals.
Priyanna who was troubled by a very high fever and cold due to the cold air-conditioned venue was awakened 10 minutes before her match, but was still able to take over the game to help them reach the Finals.
Priyanna Ramdhani was down to play Two Finals this week: Under-13 Girls Singles and Mix Doubles.
Under-17 Boys Doubles Semi-Finals:
Narayan Ramdhani & Jonathan Mangra (Guyana) lost to Shane & Sean Wilson (Jamaica): 21-11, 21-11.
Under-17 Girls Doubles Semi-Finals:
Nadine Jairam & Meshonn Persaud (Guyana) lost to Arisleyda Orbe (Dominican Republic) & Christina Hastings (Jamaica): 21-8, 21-5
Under-19 Boys Singles:
Noel Shewjattan (Guyana) lost to Jason Ramjas (Trinidad): 21-11, 21-5
Under-19 Boys Doubles:
Noel Shewjattan & Narayan Ramdhani lost to Aleandra Solas & Pedro Zapata Santana (Puerto Rico top Seeds): 21-7, 21-5.
Open Singles Round Two:
Nicholas Ali (Guyana) lost to Luis Rodrguez (Dominican Republic): 21-14, 21-15.
