– Registers three wins, two second places
Mohamed Shairaz Roshandin continued his dominance in the Group 2A Division with another scorching display after posting three impressive wins and two second place finishes at last Sunday’s Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club ‘Race of Champions’ Meet which was held, at the South Dakota Circuit.
Roshandin, who drives a Honda Civic Type R for Team M.S Roshandin Professional Diesel Works and Total Lubricants once again, demonstrated his skills and daredevilry as he eased to comfortable wins in the Group 2A Class and was even brazen enough to jump up a weight class to compete in the Group 2B where he chased
down current champion Afraz Allie, but just could not rein in the faster Toyota Starlet of Allie, who also had an outstanding day, claiming three first places.
Speaking with Kaieteur Sport yesterday, Roshandin commenting about his performance said he was extremely pleased with it, adding that the Group 2A victories was excellent and the car performed superbly.
Asked why he could not translate his Group 2A outstanding display in the higher category, Roshandin disclosed that the car was 400 lbs overweight which was a major disadvantage against the likes of Allie, but reckoned that he was still satisfied with its performance.
Quizzed on what is next on his calendar, Roshandin said he is eagerly looking forward to the marquee November Meet when Guyana host the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship final leg on November 24 where he hopes to upstage his foreign counterparts and successfully represent his country.
“We are still in the process of doing some more modifications and come November I am optimistic that the team will be able to maintain our dominance of the Group even at the regional level,” Roshandin explained.
