Gandhi Youth Organization (GYO), Transport Sports Club (TSC) and Everest Cricket Club recorded victories in the final preliminary round of matches in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)\ Banks Malta Supreme U-13 25 overs tournament last Saturday.
At GYO (13:30 hrs), the host defeated Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) by 53 runs. GCC batted first and scored 262 but suffered 12 dismissals in their allotted 25 overs which reduced them to 142. Extras led with a healthy 48. Chandra Mohan proved unplayable capturing 5 wickets without conceding a run while Pradesh Balkissoon claimed 4-3. GYO responded with 335-4 in 25 overs ending on 295. Balkissoon made 17.
At the said venue at 09:30 hours, Transport Sports Club (TSC) overcame Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) by 15 runs. TSC posted 270-6 in 25 overs batting first. Adrian Hinds scored 15 and Mark Baptiste 11; Sachin Singh picked up 3-10 and Dequain Bamfield took 2-16. DCC replied with 325-7 off their allotted overs. Jospice Jones was their leading batsman with 20 while Alphius Bookie chipped in with 17 as off-spinner Joel Spooner captured 3-18.
At Muslim Youth Organization (MYO), Everest got the better of Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) by 14 runs. Everest managed 213-11 in 25 overs. Mahendra Khemraj was the only batsman that made it into double figures with 10 while extras contributed 67. Sachin Basdeo snared 3-9, Joseph Jeffery 2-6 and Tyen Hick 2-13. MSC suffered 15 dismissals in scoring 199 in 25 overs in reply. Sase Norville made 22 and Mark Wong 11. Nicholas Sattaur was Everest leading bowler with 4-10 while Sachin Bhola claimed 3-6 and Sachin Ramroop 2-14.
GYO lead the points table with 74 followed by Everest on 64, TSC 41, DCC 34, GCC 26 and MSC 16. The semi finals are set for Saturday with GYO hosting DCC and Everest playing TSC at MYO.
Meanwhile the Brain Street U-15 semi finals will be played on Sunday. GYO will entertain GNIC and Everest will travel to DCC. (Zaheer Mohamed)
