– Squat, Deadlift & Total
The Commonwealth Powerlifting Federation (CPF) has ratified and issued certificates confirming that Guyanese Sub-Junior World Champion Gumendra Shewdas holds records in the 53.0kg Sub-Junior Class for the Squat, Deadlift and Total.
Shewdas accomplished those records at the Pan American Championships which were held in Orlando Florida on July 2, 2013. The records were ratified since the Pan Am Championships were conducted in accordance with the rules of the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF).
The Deadlift record stands at 207.5kg; Squat 182.5kg and Total 497.5kg.
The other Guyanese lifter in the Commonwealth Record books is Winston ‘Little Master’ Stoby who competes in the 74.0kg Master 1 40-49, Category.
Stoby holds the Squad record of 272.5kg achieved on October 2012 in Killeen, Texas, USA.
Stoby also holds the Squat record of 255kg in the Masters 11 (50-59) and Total of 667.5 all achieved in Killen, Texas, last year.
