Members of the Transport and General Sports Club (T&GSC) senior cricket team told Kaieteur Sport yesterday that they are frustrated at the state of the cricket ground. They said that they are not getting an opportunity to use the facility which has been taken over with bushes and nothing is being done to improve the facility.
Yes, you are seeing right, from this vantage point on Thomas Lands, the Transport and General Sports Club is hardly visible.
Members indicated that they have to use other grounds to practice for matches and they can’t host any games due to the current state of the venue. They informed that the club is without an executive body and little is being done to put systems in place to rectify this situation.
Transport and General Sports Club competes in all competitions organised by the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) and the members are calling on the authorities to upgrade the ground, urgently.
This is the third article Kaieteur Sport has published on this issue and yet nothing is being done to improve the facility. Efforts to contact an official from the Ministry of Public Works and Communications for a comment on this issue, proved futile.
