Grenada Football Association (GFA) and the US Soccer Federation have signed a three year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) this week.
The U.S. Soccer Federation shall offer technical and material assistance to the Grenada Football Association in the development and training of coaches, referees, administrators and players.
The MOU in part reads Grenada Football Association recognizes the financial, technical strength, quality and resource capacities of US Soccer and seeks guidance from U.S. Soccer in order to prepare its youth male and female teams for future FIFA World Cup tournaments.
General Secretary of the GFA, Christopher Cudjoe expressed delight over such a historic agreement and praised the efforts of GFA President Cheney Joseph for making this agreement a reality.
“What President Joseph has done is to continue with his vision for the overall development of the game on the island, and we must pay respect for his continued leadership in forging progress for the association” Cudjoe stated.
Through this memorandum, both the Grenada Football Association and US Soccer to will seek to:
– Raise the standard of football within CONCACAF
– Develop cooperation for training of coaches, players, referees and administrators
– Promote the importance of cooperation, club development and competitions within CONCACAF
– Promote the importance of cultural and educational exchange between Grenada and the United States
– Utilize football as the catalyst to promote health, wellness, and physical activity as a way of life within CONCACAF
The goal of this memorandum is to work together to promote the game of football between the people of Grenada and the United States of America. Both parties shall remain committed to cooperate in the field of youth development, and also use football as a means to impart essential life skills onto coaches and ultimately girls and boys.
The agreement was signed by GFA’s President Cheney Joseph and General Secretary Christopher Cudjoe and signing on behalf of US Soccer Federation were President Sunil Golati and Chief Administrative Officer, Brian Remedi.
The agreement takes effect from September 30th this year and will run for the next three years.
