Horseracing over the years has been dubbed the “Sport King” and with recent competition from other sports for sponsorship and publicity, those in the horseracing fraternity are giving the assurance that they will stay ahead of the competition.
The Bush Lot United Turf Club (BLUTC) in collaboration with the Kishan Bacchus Trucking Service and Jumbo Jet Jnr has begun preparations for their one day meet slated for Sunday 29th September at the club’s entity Sea View Park Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice.
A number of sponsors have been rushing forward to solidify their deal with the organisers as preparations pick up for the grand one day event.
Among the sponsors so far are; Banks DIH Limited, Buddy Shivraj, Jumbo Jet Auto Sales and racing stables, Trophy Stall Bourda Market, Inshan Bacchus Trucking Serving and Business Enterprise, Lakeram ‘Buddy’ Sukhdeo, Mohammed ‘Nanko’ Shariff Business Enterprise and Shariff racing stable, Phagoo general Store, Eron Lall Civil Engineering and Construction, Baijnauth Sawmilling, Darmin Chattergoon, Romell Jagroop Construction, Premo Baldeo and Rohan Oudit Construction among others.
Seven races are listed on the day’s programme with close to $8M in cash and prizes up for grabs.
A number of the country’s top horses have already given an indication of taking part in the day’s action.
The Feature race will be for horses classified ‘B’ and lower with horses such as Elle’s, Vision, The Message, Donut Prince, Fresh Again Grande De Roja, Zelick, Africanist, Who is on the Case and Forced Entry among the lot already on board for the day of action, with the animals set to cover a distance of one mile. The winner will take home $1.2M and trophy.
The horses classified E and lower will battle in a one mile event for a top prize of $600,000 and trophy. An encouraging $500,000 and trophy over six furlongs is available for the winner in the three Year old event for the Guyana and West Indies bred and born horses.
A similar $500,000 and trophy is available for the winner of the event for two year old Guyana and West Indies Bred horses over five furlongs.
The race for horses classified G3 and lower will be a six furlongs affair with the animals running for a winning purse of $400,000 and trophy.
The ‘I’ and lower event is also over six furlongs for a winning purse of$200,000 and trophy.
The J and K class match up will see the winner pocketing $150,000 and trophy over six furlongs.
With so much on offer an action packed day of racing is anticipated.
The individual performers including top jockey, stable and trainer will be presented with trophies compliments of The Trophy Stall, Bourda Market and the organisers.
