Dear Editor,
Boston’s article should be headlined “Boston exhibits his propaganda skills” as this is what is artfully displayed by this writer and is the hallmark of his inimitable style. Throw in a few facts and jumble it up with some half-truths and innuendoes and you have the perfect recipe for propaganda. It is important that the media display some level of journalistic ethics before committing its paper to publish such barefaced lies and deception against decent citizens. The DCB will not tolerate such gross insubordination and ad hominen attacks on its officials through this wanton disregard for the truth with not an iota of evidence presented to support his wild and reckless statements.
1. DCB duly held its AGM of 2011 at Wales and Mr. Raj Singh and his Officers were elected to serve the Board. At no time have Mr. Boston and his group of detractors ever made reference to the blatant disregard and illegal actions of Bissoondyal Singh, Claude Raphael, Roger Harper & Ronald Williams made against a Special Resolution passed by the Executive Committee of the DCB on January 17th 2011.This entire meeting was videotaped for posterity and has been presented to the Court and will be aired again soon so that the public can fully understand the facts. Justice Bovell Drakes is an esteemed and honorable Judge and the Bostons of this world should not quote such persons when reeling off their diatribe. It would serve Mr. Boston well to secure a copy of the injunction granted in the matter Krishnchand Mangal Vs Bissoondyal Singh, Roger Harper, Claude Raphael, Ronald Williams and the remainder of their group that prohibits those persons from functioning as the DCB and also have someone explain the legalities to him. The Defendants had reproached the Courts and the Judge then included Mr. Mangal alone in his Order. A copy of the Judge’s Order is with the major newspapers but some journalists seem to pay very casual attention to this detail thus allowing persons of the Boston ilk to continue spreading misinformation in the public domain.
2. At the AGM of the GCB which was held at the GCC in July 2011, and not January as stated by Boston, there were a total of 22 delegates present out of the full allocation of 27 delegates of the GCB. The 9 delegates of the DCB were duly seated at the meeting but since the quorum of 12 delegates was then exceeded by 10 delegates with their presence and in an effort to avoid any potential legal controversies, the DCB led by Mr. Raj Singh made a conscious and prudent decision not to participate in the AGM and left the meeting venue. Simple mathematics would then have us deduce that 13 delegates remained in the meeting. If Boston was present at that AGM he obviously does not know to count nor does he know who the delegates of the Berbice Board are. The handwritten delegates list was submitted by the President of the Berbice Board, Keith Foster, directly to the Secretary of the GCB. A copy of this list could also be made available to Boston. Bissoondyal and a few of his confederates, in a most hooliganistic manner, then started an argument and attempted to rewrite the constitution of the GCB to make the quorum 14 delegates in a vain attempt to break up the meeting. This entire meeting is on videotape!
3. After the AGM of the GCB in July 2011, the Angela Haniff matter was then initiated and was duly thrown out by the Chief Justice after looking at the video recording and listening to the legal arguments of the GCB’s counsel. The assets of the GCB are owned by DEB Essentials Inc. and not by any individuals. The Berbice Board has, since its court matter, kept away from further meetings of the GCB but has wisely allowed and selected their players to participate in the cricket competitions of the Board. Obviously, Bissoondyal & Harper did not get the memo in this regard.
4. The Haniff matter created the IMC and the Cricket Bill which evolved into the works of the Select Committee through a suggestion made by the Chief Justice when he threw out that matter as ill conceived. The suggestion was for the Minister to transform the GCB into a legal entity but the Minister obviously had other intentions and ambitions. The DCB has been scrutinizing the Cricket Bill and, very shortly, will be issuing a formal detailed statement on this Bill outlining its position.
The remainder of Boston letter is full of the usual garbage and personal attacks that emanates from this group and is not worthy of any responses. This would also be our final correspondence with Boston and trust that the journalistic fraternity will pay more attention to facts and details before rushing to print these wholesale lies and fabrications.
