Hailed as the most successful year in the 37-year history of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Teach Them Young 8-weeks Cycling Programme, National Coach Hassan Mohamed will bring the curtains down on this year’s edition tomorrow at the National Park.
This is Guyana’s longest running junior coaching programme and from the inception, National Coach Hassan Mohamed MS has been at the helm. It has produced all of Guyana’s top cyclists in recent years and continues to play a pivotal role in this regard.
Activities apart from the ceremonial closing tomorrow, the programme will come to an end on Saturday with an 11-race Meet at the Inner Circuit of the National Park where the participants which numbered 65 will have an opportunity to showcase their newly learnt skills.
The usual races will be contested and are as follows:

The programme is sponsored by National Sports Commission. Last year’s School Boys and Invitation winner was Robin Persaud who covered the distance in One Hour 20 Minutes 15.92 Seconds.
Akeem Wilkinson took the Juvenile event in 24 Minutes 56.3 Seconds; Kennard Lovell was the top Veteran Under-50 winner in 12 minutes 36 Seconds, while Keon Thomas triumphed in the Mountain bike event (11 Minutes 46 Seconds).
