Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) and Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) recorded victories
when play in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)\Banks Malta Supreme Under-13 25 overs competition continued yesterday with two matches.
At GYO, the host defeated Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) by 90 runs. GYO batted first and scored 327-7 off their allotted 25 overs, but ended on 257 since according to the competition regulations 10 runs shall be deducted for every dismissal and each team shall commence their innings with 200 runs; the batsmen are required to bat in pairs with each pair batting for five overs.
Extras contributed a healthy 86; Joshua Bourne effected 3 dismissals for 14 runs. MSC in reply managed 320 in 25 overs, but suffered 23 dismissals which saw them ending on 90.
Sase Norville top scored with 22; Anand Chetram accounted for 5 dismissals while Movindra Persaud, Chandra Mohan and Varu Jaikeshan had 3 each. Danesh Alli and Elnathan Sukhnanand claimed 2 apiece.
At Bourda, DCC overcame Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) by 129 runs. DCC rattled up 384-5 in 25 overs, but finished on 334 after the deduction for dismissals was made. Alphius Bookie led with 36 and got support from Rawl Douglas 19 and Jospice Jones 16. Avinash Boodram had three for 13.
GCC in reply endured 11 dismissals in scoring 315 in 25 overs. Extras was the top scorer with 39. Brandon Jaikaran effected 3 dismissals for 7 runs and Triston Rodrigues had 3-13. The competition continues today.
