A 23-year-old man is hospitalised at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC),
nursing multiple stab wounds about his body.
Omaly Chester, a construction worker of Strathspey, East Coast Demerara was stabbed to his chest and left shoulder by a man known to him. The incident occurred on the Buxton Public Road around 3 a.m. yesterday.
According to information received, Chester was heading home with a group of friends when a man who felt offended by the jokes the injured man’s friends were making, pulled out a knife and attacked the young man.
The injured Chester was rushed to the hospital while his attacker plunged into a trench and escaped. Yesterday, at the hospital, the injured Chester told Kaieteur News that he left home around 7 p.m. on Monday and was at a party in Buxton.
“After the party finish, everybody left and me and some boys were walking and they were troubling a guy. They were calling him girl and like he get mad and turn around and pull out the knife and attack me,” Chester told this publication.
Police are investigating the incident.
