A Kaieteur News Reporter, investigating reports that a construction worker fell off the third floor of the Marriott Hotel had to run for her life when a huge dog forced her to flee the compound in a haste yesterday.
After receiving information that a Chinese national, working on the US$51M hotel was hospitalized after a fall, this publication visited the site yesterday to confirm the report.
But upon entering the compound, after walking past a security guard, one of the Chinese workers smilingly told the reporter, “me no fall down and me na know who fall down.”
With his head shaking from left to right, he directed the reporter to his boss, “Go, go to me boss, me can’t talk to nobody.”
When the reporter approached the boss’ cabin, a huge dog walked out from an open door and charged at the reporter.
Scared almost out of her skin, the reporter bolted, screaming all the while until she was rescued by another Chinese worker.
The ‘boss’ then walked out of the cabin after a while and restrained the dog.
When asked whether one of his workers fell off the third-flat of the multi-million dollar hotel, he looked at the dog which he held with one hand and then looked at the reporter and smiled.
“All the workers are healthy and they are working, nobody fell down.” The reporter did not bother to ask further questions and happily left the compound.
