Action in the CONCACAF Under-15 Championship continued recently in three groups in the Cayman Islands.
In GROUP A – Cayman Islands defeated Bahamas 3-1 to mark their third win in the Group on the grounds of the Truman Bodden Sports Complex. Man of the Match Zachary Scott scored the first goal in the 11th minute, followed by Leighton Thomas in the 16th and Sebastian Martinez in the 30th. Re’John Ene scored the only goal for the Bahamas in the 63rd minute.
Bermuda defeated Aruba 3-1 in a match played at this same venue. Amar Lewis in the 7th and Man of the Match Jai-Zei Smith-DeSheilds in the 10th and 36th minutes scored for Bermuda. Ryan Ellis scored the consolation goal in the 39th minute.
US Virgin Islands beat St. Maarten 3-2. Brandon Potmis opened the score in the 9th minute. In the 23rd minute James Cook scored an own goal in favour of the USVI and Yannick Dianane completed the USVI score in the 58th minute. Kumar Serrant and Reno Brooks scored for St. Maarten in the 34th and 55th minute respectively. Luke Patrie of the US Virgin Islands was named Man of the Match.
Over in GROUP B – at Annex Field, Grenada defeated St. Lucia 2-0. With an early goal by Chelon Edgehill at the 14th minute, Grenada was able to control the match. Rickell Charles, who was named Man of the Match, scored the second goal 5 minutes before the end of the game. St. Lucia ended its participation in the tournament, while Grenada has one match remaining.
With a late first half goal by Man of the Match, Francisco Fuentes, Guatemala defeated Belize 1-0. With this victory Guatemala installed itself in first place, while Belize is tied in second place with Jamaica.
In GROUP D – Haiti defeated St. Vincent & Grenadines 2-0. Angelo Thelusme scored in the 49th minute, while Man of the Match, Thermidor Fils-Aime, scored the second goal nine minutes later. With two games remaining for each team, group leader El Salvador has seven points, followed by Puerto Rico and Haiti.
