Guyanese Ramdass wants to represent West Indies again
Toronto, Canada – Ex-West Indies opening batsman Ryan Ramdass stated that he is happy with his current batting form and looking forward to regain his spot in the Guyana’s team and ultimately the West Indies side in the near future.
He made this declaration on Sunday at the King City ground in Toronto where he was representing Islanders Cricket Club in the annual Toronto and District Cricket Association Elite 50-over tournament.

The right-hander so far cracked a double-century and century while he made four half-centuries since his arrival earlier this year and has produced resounding performances in the Etobicoke and District Association competition as well in the limited-over competition.
Ramdass, who represented the Caribbean side in a solitary one-day international and test match, felt that he is back to full fitness and ready mentally and physically to play at the highest level again.
He featured in 21 first-class matches for his native country but picked up a shoulder injury which kept him out of action for the past seven years. He underwent operation and according to the 30-year-old right-hander, he wants to don the maroon colours again.
“I [am] definitely working very hard on my game; I just feel I can make a big contribution to Guyana’s and West Indies’ cricket again but I know runs are very important and playing in Canada professionally helps my game and confidence tremendously,” Ramdass related.
He also took the opportunity to say that he was successful in Trinidad and Tobago before joining Islanders Cricket Club in Canada for the fifth year. His experience in the Caribbean territory was also wonderful having represented Clarke Road in both the limited and three-day competitions.
“Yes, playing in Trinidad and Tobago where the competition was very stiff and getting among the runs was definitely remarkable and then came up here and making runs consistently I want to reclaim my spot on the Guyana and West Indies team in the near future; I am confident I can do it because my fitness is great and I am delighted to make steady and significant contributions to my teams up here,” Ramdass divulged.
He concluded by saying that he is willing to return home and participate in the domestic competitions there in an effort to represent Demerara at the Guyana Cricket Board inter-county competition, which is being used primarily for the selection of the national side.
