Dear Editor,
The Kaieteur News of 3rd August, 2013 reported the following statement, “The President also made reference to the pre-1992 era when, he said, teachers were without resources, the medical situation was worrying and there were long lines for basic supplies.” As a teacher, as a Head of Department, as a former lecturer of CPCE, as a former cadet in the Ministry of Education and as a parent, I wish to let His Excellency know that teachers are still ‘without resources’. Additionally, I wish to advise His Excellency to always talk about all the schools that the PPP/C government has rebuilt as this is all they have done for education in 21 years of governance. Apart from the Secondary School Reform Project (SSRP), every project and programme has been and continues to be an utter failure.
