Courts Guyana Inc made major big input to the Boyce and Jefford Track and Field Classic budget, donating $400,000 to the fourth edition of the event yesterday at the organization’s headquarters on Main Street.
The Classic, which will see clubs vying for the top prize of $500,000, has grown into Guyana’s premier track and field event.
Courts began support of the event in their third edition and have been
a major contributor to its success ever since. Marketing Manager Pernell Cummings and Public Relation Officer of Courts Kester Abrams noted the importance of the development of sport in the country.
Co-Founder of the Boyce and Jefford Classic, Colin Boyce, thanked the management of Courts for the well appreciated contribution to the event.
“I just wish to express sincere thanks to the Courts management team for coming onboard with the fourth edition of the Boyce and Jefford track and field classic.
Being the chairman of the Boyce and Jefford committee we are elated that Courts has come onboard for the third time and we know for sure that they (Courts) are eager to support sports of any nature providing that it can bring the kind of value that they are looking for,” Boyce noted.
The Boyce and Jefford Classic will be held on August 17 and 18 at the Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary and the Mackenzie Sports Club ground Linden respectively where athlete from Trinidad, Grenada and Suriname are expected to participate.
