Captain of the Jamaica Tallawahs Chris Gayle said that acclimatizing to the local condition was the key to his team being successful in their Limacol Caribbean Premier League (LCPL) T20 game against the Antigua Hawksbills at the Guyana National Stadium Providence.
Speaking after his team completed a seven wicket victory on Sunday Gayle said that it took some time to adjust to the conditions. “The track was slow and we found it difficult to score on at first, it took time
to get to know the conditions better”, added Gayle.
He said that they played according to the game situation and kept wickets in hand. “We came off a big loss and started a bit shaky in this game but we managed to pull it back, Murali did a wonderful job and we are happy”, he said.
Gayle said that they managed to get keys wicket early which was a major factor in restricting their opponents. “We picked up key wickets early and kept the pressure on”, stated Gayle.
Andre Russell who scored 42 from 23 balls said that the crowd motivated the team a lot. “The fans got us pumped up and we appreciated their support, i must thank them.
Russell said that variation is very important and that he just tried to put the ball in the right areas and hit the deck hard. (Zaheer Mohamed)
