The police are on the hunt for three bandits who around 20:45 hrs on Friday evening ambushed and shot a Tain, Corentyne, Berbice man in his right hand.
Parachandra Harriprasad, 50, a tractor operator, of First Street, Tain, was rushed to the Port Mourant Hospital where he was treated before being transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he remains warded.
According to information, Harriprasad and some others who are participating in the ongoing PPP Congress, had just returned home from the Port Mourant Community Centre, where they went to pick up some sponge (mattresses). It is understood that a few of the participants are staying at his place.
Harripersaud and some of the men were in the yard when they were attacked by the bandits who emerged from a bathroom situated in an empty house lot nearby. The man told investigators that at first he did not realise that he was shot, but afterwards he felt a burning and saw blood oozing from his hand. Harriprasad told investigators that he recognised one of the culprits from Tain Block Four.
