The Ministry of Education (Reg. #10) in collaboration with the Abdullah Hamid Foundation hosted a successful Basketball Camp in the Bauxite Mining Town of Linden that attracted close to 50 students and held at the Mackenzie High School from July 22nd August 2nd.
Speaking with Kaieteur Sport, National basketball Coach and former National player Abdullah ‘Zico’ Hamid said that the Camp went well and he is convinced that the technical and practical knowledge gained by the students will serve the game in good stead not only in Linden, but Guyana by extension.

Hamid disclosed that they were all excited to be part of the Camp which was held for the second successive year. Fifteen females participated in the sessions which saw a 95% attendance rate throughout the duration; sessions were held from 09:00 – 11:00hrs.
“I think the sessions went very well, the kids responded well and the attendance was most heartening.”
Hamid lauded the support of the Ministry of Education and General Coordinator Lindley Langhorne as well as the support of Assistant Coach and former National player, Shauna Chester.
Four of the students, two males and females each were rewarded. Abigail Graham and Yannick Easton were adjudged as the Most Disciplined players, while Nisha Cummings and Rashad David were deemed to the Most Improved players. Copping the trophy for the Most Talented Player was Usaiah Major.
