A woman who was caught with a quantity of counterfeit currency in her possession was on Friday sentenced to six months in jail by Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh when she appeared before him and pleaded guilty at the Albion Magistrate’s Court.
The woman, Jasodra Sundar, 54, of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara was caught with 500 counterfeit Euro notes in her possession on July 18, in New Amsterdam.
Prosecutor Corporal Sherlock King told the court that on the day in question the woman travelled from East Coast Demerara to defraud some unsuspecting customer.
The police were informed and quickly set up a dragnet and arrested the woman with the currency in her possession.
She was arrested and charged.
