A sixth wicket haul by left arm spinner Gudakesh Motie Kanhai gave Guyana early control against Trinidad and Tobago in the second round of the Regional Under-19 Three day tournament which commenced yesterday in St. Kitts & Nevis.
Trinidad and Tobago won the toss and elected to bat at Molineaux, openers Bryan Christmas and Jeremy Solanzano added 37 for the first wicket before left arm spinner Gudakesh Motie Kanhai bowled Solonazano for 09 in the 14th over.
Vishal Narayan then removed Christmas for 33, but Camillo Carimbocas and Gobin took their team to lunch without further hiccups with a third wicket stand of 69.
The pair continued to frustrate the Guyanese after the break with level headed batting, taking the score to 122, but when they were separated by Kanhai who trapped Gobin leg before for 33, the rest of the Trinidad and Tobago batting faltered and they were bowled out for 194. Kanhai was the pick of the bowlers with 6-42 while Narayan supported with 2-23.
Shimron Hetymer (20) and Tagenarine Chanderpaul (07) saw the Guyanese to stumps at 27 without loss after 6 overs.
