DEAR EDITOR,
I am of the strong view that the Chairman of GECOM voted against the Chief Elections Officer mainly because he was told to do so.
If my memory serves me right, just after the Election results were released the Opposition parties were calling for the resignation of both the Chair and CEO. I can even remember the protest reaching the home of the Chair.
I believe the chair voted with the Opposition in anticipation that the Opposition will now relax and at least ease the public call for his resignation.
Permit me to make this prediction. I predict that a PPP crony will get the job as CEO of GECOM. I believe the commissioners will have to vote on who gets the job and of course the votes will read three for, and three against. And we all know where the Chairman will put his vote.
Another prediction. The position of Bursar at UG will be treated the same.
