Manager of Orealla Secondary School, Percy Peneux, speaking with Kaieteur Sport recently showered praise on Digicel for hosting the Nationwide Schools Football Championship.
Peneux, whose side failed to make the playoffs after losing to New Amsterdam Multilateral School, told this newspaper that the entire Orealla community was extremely satisfied with the work being done by Digicel as they attempt to assist in the development of football on a national scale from the junior level.
He was high in praise of the organisational skill displayed by the Company, adding that the treament they received since arriving in New Amsterdam was excellent and appreciated.
“This is my first time as Manager of the team and I want to say that what Digicel is doing is something great for this country,” Peneux said.
He added that the team has no regrets since they reached a far way in the competition and even though they were expecting to progress further they were eventually beaten by a better team and have no complaints.
He disclosed that due to their good showing he is certain that the team will once again be part of the competition next year and even assured that preparation will commence much sooner.
“I can assure you that our preparations will commence much earlier, we are extremely motivated and we will be calling on our own Village Council and Digicel to offer us whatever other support is possible to enable us to prepare better next year,” Peneux stated.
He was adamant that the team will be much stronger next time, informing that in the community reside players with a lot of potential and no one should write them off.
He, however, felt that their chances would have been better had they played the game at home, but recognised that that was the way the fixtures were structured and they have no complaints.
Peneux said he was satisfied with the team’s performance, conceding that they came up against a tough opponent and gave them a real good fight.
He also recognised the efforts of the co-ordinators and the rest of the support team that made everything smooth and easy for them.
