Preparations are continuing for the much anticipated Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sports Facilities (RCMTC&SF) and the Port Mourant Turf Club (PMTC) one day horserace meet on Sunday 21st of July at the Port Mourant Turf Club.
The meet, which will herald the start of the second half of the 2013 horserace season, has nine pulsating events listed on the day’s programme.
As the weather continues to play a cat and mouse game most of the top stables are busy making use of whatever dry days and spaces are available to get their animals in shape for the big meet which has more than $6M dollars at stake in cash incentives and trophies.
A recent check with the organisers have shown over 50 animals already entered for the meet with stables such as -The Shariff Racing stable, Habibulla, Jumbo Jet, Colin Elcock’s Delmur and P&P Syndicate Racing stable, Jagdeo Racing stable, Asrafalli racing stables, Simple Royal and Senior Council Marcel Crawford Racing stable, Night Eyes, Mahaicony, Jagmohan, Bacchus, Sukdeo and Singh racing stables among others indicating their willingness to enter their animals to be a part of the day’s activities.
The events listed on the days programme are the B and lower 1200M event with a first prize of $700,000 and trophy up for grabs from a total purse of over $1.5M.
There will be a race for 3yrs old Guyana and West Indies Bred horses, for a winning take of $350,000 over 1300M.
The E and lower 1300M sprint will have a first prize of $400,000. The race for Two Year old Guyana and West Indies Bred Horse will have a winner’s purse of $300,000 over 1000M.
The horses running in the G1 and lower class race will have an opportunity to race away with a first prize of $300,000 over 1300M.
The G3 and lower even will see the animals racing for a $300,000 winners money over 1200M.
Two-year old Guyana Bred horses will be competing for a $220,000 first prize over 1000M.
The ‘I’ and lower race will be a 1200M affair with a first prize of $200,000, while the J and K class event will fetch a winning prize of $150,000 over 1200M.
Outstanding individual performers, including top Jockey, trainer and stable will be presented with accolades compliments of the Trophy Stall Bourda Market and the organisers.
Among the sponsors on board so far are Banks DIH Limited, Omai Transportation, Trophy Stall of Bourda Market, Toolsie Persaud Limited, South Land Incorporated, Balram Shane General Store, Friends of Port Mourant, Bobby and Indranie and R&C Poonai and Delmur Shipping Company among others.
