Cabinet has given its no-objection for the construction of an additional storey atop the Brickdam Police Station lock-ups.
According to Cabinet Secretary Dr. Roger Luncheon, $40.9M will be spent to construct an upper flat of the Station’s lock-ups, since there is a space constraint expanding the existing flat horizontally.
Meanwhile, Cabinet has also approved a $39.7M contract for phase two of construction works being executed on the Brick Prison, a block of the Georgetown facility at Lot 12 Camp Street.
Last October, Cabinet had approved $50.93M to reconstruct a section of the Brick Prison. Director of Prisons, Dale Erskine had told this publication that the reconstruction project is part of the Guyana Prison Service’s strategic plan to modernize facilities.
According to Dr. Luncheon, $51.8M would be expended to construct the courtyard of Lusignan Prison, East Coast Demerara.
