Berbice High School (BHS) continued their prolific form as they swamped surprise package Tagore Memorial 7-0 to advance to the semifinals in the Digicel Nationwide Inter School football competition in a game played on Wednesday at the Skeldon ground.
The prolific BHS line up had to battle the heavy breeze and surprisingly had to wait until the 38th when national cricketer Shimron Hetmeyer, just back from representing Guyana in U-17 cricket in Jamaica, latched on to one to send his team up and running for a 1-0 lead at half time.
Hetmeyer started things rolling in the second half when he scored in the 57th minute for his second goal.
Stephan Hinds in the 64th minute, Shamar Ariendiel with a double in the 70th and 75th minutes, Derrick Taylor in the 80th minute and Mark Wrong in the 92nd minute rounded things off for the BHS unit, which looked ominous, as they prepare to take on New Amsterdam Technical Institute (NATI) today in a much anticipated clash at the Skeldon ground.
BHS had earlier routed Vryman’s s Erven Secondary 6-0 in a quarterfinal game played at the Scott Church ground with Mark Wrong in the 7th minute and Kerron McKenzie with a 13th minute strike, Sheldon Arrindel with goals in the 46th and 62 minutes and substitute Steffon Hinds, who sealed things off with goals in the 72 and 76 minutes, for their 6-0 route.
