NOTES
Caribbean Championships
Guyana easily brushed aside rivals Puerto Rico and Trinidad and Tobago for team honours. On the distaff side, despite fielding just one lifter, Guyana managed to gain the silver.
Pan American Championships
Guyana enjoyed its maiden entry into the team championships at the Pan American level by tying with Mexico for joint third place. Had lifter Karel Mars secured his safety lift before going heavy, Guyana would have been assured of a further 7 points through at least fourth place finish catapulting them into undisputed second place and silver medal win with a final tally of 43 points.
South American giants Ecuador proved simply unstoppable capturing both male and female open titles along with men junior titles. Guyana – men open joint third / men juniors 4th of 8 teams / men masters 4th of 8 teams
