– says internationally recognized Specialist
Calculations have revealed that companies practicing energy conservation can save at least five percent of their annual energy expenditures, which, for some companies, would amount to as much as US $5M.
This is according to Guyana-born and internationally recognised Energy Management Specialist, Dr. Carl Duncan.
He is one of two International Consultants appointed by the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association (GMSA) to execute a landmark energy efficiency awareness and implementation project here in Guyana.
The Energy Efficiency Project is being funded by both the GMSA (30%) and the Multilateral Investment Fund of the Inter-American Development Bank (70%).
GMSA has said that this project is critical to the development of enterprises in Guyana, as it directly addresses the often contentious issue of high energy costs. Its aim is to sensitize companies to the best means of measuring, and managing their energy distribution, equipment/components, and consumption.
The target companies include those in the Manufacturing and Services sectors, including those powered from the national grid and those that self-generate.
The Project was divided into two (2) major components. One is via an Energy Efficiency Rating Study designed to establish a data baseline showing Consumption, Utilization and Cost patterns, and two, an Energy Audit & Study which would involve live ‘In-Plant’ measurements and monitoring of Electrical assets.
