New Amsterdam Technical Institute (NATI) which has scored the most goals in a single match this year to date (22-0 vs Port Mourant Sec.) in a first round fixture continues to show that they will be a force to reckon with this time around in the Digicel Schools Football Championship.
NATI recorded a close 2-1 over a tough Port Mourant Training Centre (PMTC) in a clash of the tertiary institutions on Sunday last at the Skeldon ground on the Upper Corentyne. The final scoreline did not reflect NATI’s dominance in the game, actually, at the half way mark, NATI were comfortably enjoying a 2-0 advantage, both coming off the boots of the prolific Jarell Walters in the 28th and 39th minute.
However, PMTC came out fighting in the second half, absorbing all of the pressure thrown at them by the NATI team who were relentless in their raids. PMTC however was able to pull one back against the run of play in the dying stages of the game; Balram Seubarran netting two minutes from full time.
NATI were a bit nervous but time was on their side as soon after, the final whistle was blown.
The competition was expected to continue yesterday with two matches, Tagore Memorial took on Corentyne Comprehensive at the Skeldon Ground while Berbice High were down to oppose old nemesis Vryman’s Erven Secondary at the Scott’s Church Ground.
Today, New Amsterdam Multilateral will take on School of the Nation while NATI will play Berbice Educational Institute.
