Robin Persaud rode a flawless race to retain the senior crown when the Fourth edition of the Seven Seas Multi Vitamin/Dr. Chase Nerve Tonic 50 Mile Road Race was contested yesterday on the West Demerara, yesterday.
Persaud completed the distance in One Hour 55 Minutes 04 Seconds, powering away from Orville Hinds in the final 60 meters of the race that attracted 34 starters on a sunny Sunday morning.
Jude Bentley, who is gradually working his way back into competitive form, took the third place followed by Godfrey Pollydore, Marlon Willaims and Mario King in that order. King also won the junior category with the second and third places going to Hamza Eastman and Kravitz Jeffrey, respectively.
Stephano Husbands ruled the roost in the Mountain bike division, he outsprinted Keon Thomas and Lennon Dick in that order. Kennard Lovell was back to winning ways in the veteran segment of the race, he too victory from Shameer Baksh and Gary Benjamin.
Three junior riders, Jamal John, Raphael Leung and Alphie Sonoram were presented with special trophies.
At the presentation ceremony, Ms. Karen Connell, Product Specialist of Seven Seas stated that Geddes Grant in association with Seven Seas and Dr. Chase were very proud to once again be involved with the event pointing out that the products that are associated with the event all promote and support healthy and active lifestyles.
She encouraged the riders to take special care of their health which is vital to their continued participation in the sport. Each of the first and second placed athletes in the respective categories were presented with products from the two sponsors.
Mahase Itwaru, Pharmacy and Product Specialist for Dr. Chase Nerve and Blood Tonic, complimented the riders for the efforts they put into making the annual event a success while organiser Hassan Mohamed thanked the both Ms. Connell, Mr. Itwaru, Geddes Grant and the Guyana Police Force for their combined efforts that saw another successful race.
